  • The Department of Economics is established in 1984. Department offers different courses like Share Market Trading Course, Certificate Course in Banking and Certificate Course in GST. The Department regularly organizes various academic activities. Every year, the faculty participates and presents in International, National and State Level Conferences, Seminars and Workshops. The Faculty undertakes the research projects related to different issues of economy. Alumni of the department are working at various sectors i.e. Education, Public Administration, Banking, Insurance, Industry, Agri-business and Self-employment. Innovative teaching- learning method has also been introduced. Department is consistently working on the skill development of the student which is very important in changing economic conditions.

Thrust Area:

In order to meet its objectives, Department of Economics, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahavidyalaya, Peth Vadgaon (Affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur) has identified thrust areas, which will be accorded higher priority over others. Thrust areas include Development Economics, International Trade, Agriculture Economics, Public Finance, Environmental Economics, Monetary Economics, Rural Development, Human Resource Development, Industrial Economics and Population Studies.

Objectives:

  • To initiate the students into the acquisition and application of diverse Economic Theories.
  • To empower the students with critical, analytical and creative use of theory 
  • To understand the socio-economic environment to approach the contemporary problems with better solutions.
  • To provide awareness of economic, entrepreneurial and social conditions which will facilitate understanding of economic issues leading to policy making.
  • To equip students with skills and knowledge in the use of the economic theory and practice in the ever evolving job market.
  • To develop the potential among students for higher education, research and career placement.
